Family Night Saturday Night!!

The weather has been pretty nice out this past week, so Richie suggested we start a fire last night. So after dinner, he and Seth went out to get everything together to start it up. I brought out the stuff to make smores (because you know I can't go to a "bon fire" without chocolate...LOL) and we had some laughs and made smores. Oh, and a glass of wine!!!

I think Seth thought the smores were too sticky, but it sure didn't stop him from eating them!!LOL

Of course Grace goes for the pure sugar first and eats the marshmallow and then the rest of the smore...hahaha

After the kids ate their smores, we gave them baths and put them to bed and Richie and I headed back out to spend the evening by the fire. We had a great time and talked for hours, before realizing that it was really late and we needed to go inside!! I hope everyone had a GREAT weekend!!!

School Skate Party...

Thursday night was a school skate party at a local skating rink...and on Thursdays I have two extra kids that I watch so I asked Mom to pick Seth up from school and come get Grace and take them to her house. I asked the parents of the other two kids if I could take them with us and they said yes, so at about 5:30pm I packed up the other two in my car (which by the way, one is about 7 months old, and I had forgotten how much stuff you have to take with you when you have an infant...hahaha) and headed to the rink. We called mom on the way and she met me there with Seth and Grace.

All of the kids had a great time, and Richie even met us out there after work!! We ate pizza and skated for about 2 hours before heading home. Grace and F stayed on the beginner floor and ran around all night. We barely got them to stop long enough to eat!! LOL

This is B, F's little brother. He is sooo sweet and watched the big kids all night long.

Seth was a big help, he would come over and skate with the younger ones for a while and help them up when they fell before heading out to the big rink...

Seth started out on regular skates, but then noticed that one of his friends from school was wearing inline skates so he wanted to try them out...Richie was trying to help him out!!!LOL

TV STAR!!!

Seth was on TV last night!!! The local news station was out at Lebanon Elementary doing a salute to the school. The kindergarten classes were given a time slot to do a "channel five is number 1". This is very exciting stuff...we had to tape it because we were not near a tv during the broadcast, so today we watched it with Seth and his eyes lit up...

Sidewalk Paint!!

Once we were done with the park, Grace and I went to pick up Seth at school. We got home and the kids wanted to play outside in the backyard, so I told them they could but to stay in the backyard. Seth came in and asked for the tub of toys in the closet and so I took it out for him, not realizing what was in it. Oops!!! Anyway, he and I played catch for awhile and then he asked for his prize from the treasure box so he went in to find something and came out with a Spiderman Decoder puzzle. He sat at the table on the deck and worked on that for a while with me and when we turned around to see what Grace was doing (because it was kind of quiet) we got a huge surprise!!

Hope everyone enjoyed their days in the sun as well before the rain hits us tomorrow!!!

Warm Spring Days...

YAY!! We finally got outside for the afternoon in some really nice weather. Grace and I met up with Dawnjulene and Dache' at the park here in Lebanon for the afternoon. We had a great time. Wyatt even came out to play with the girls too. Dache' and Grace are the same age and this picture really shows how short Grace's legs are...hahaha!!!

Guess what...

I'm pregnant!! Well, at least that is what Seth told everyone at school today. When I went to pick him up from school he came running out to me to tell me he didn't get any sticks pulled and he only needs one more sticker to get something out of the treasure box at school. I gave him high fives and when I looked up there were two of the kindergarten teachers racing towards me with smiles...I was kind of nervous thinking they either had a good story to tell me about Seth or something else went wrong.

Mrs. Quayle, Seth's teacher, put her hand on my shoulder and asked me if there was something I needed to tell them. I honestly racked my brain, thinking of what I possible needed to tell them. I couldn't come up with anything. I told her, "No!, Why?". She said, "Seth said you were having a baby girl!". I about fell on the floor. The only thing that came to mind was, "I will be sueing some doctors if that is true!!". She and the other teacher laughed and said that Seth was telling everyone that I was having a baby and he was very excited about it.

On the way home from school, I asked Seth why he told everyone that and he thought I was mad at him. I explained that I wasn't mad, it was funny, but that I was not having any more babies. I asked him why he wanted another baby sister since he already has one. His response, "I don't want Grace anymore, I want one that is nice to me". LOL I kindly explained that he loves Grace and she loves him but that we were not having any more babies. Then they proceeded to argue the whole way home!!!

Life around here is never dull!!! hahaha

I don't have any pregnancy pictures of me with Grace, but here she is at one week old on Christmas Day!!

Swimming lessons have started...YAY!!

Last week both kids started swimming lessons at the local YMCA and are looking forward to them each week now. Grace was first to go, this was the first time she had ever been in this type of environment at the pool. Usually when she goes to a pool it is for playing, and this is exactly what she thought during the entire class. ugh!!! She kept getting out of the water and trying to get the toys they were using for teaching aides. Not to mention she could see us and knew we were watching her, so I am sure she was trying to show us that she was having a good time, but we wanted her to realize the teacher was trying to show her how to swim. :(

Seth was next to go, and he is always excited when it is time for lessons. He is very comfortable in the water and loves to see how far he can swim. Most of the kids in these lessons wear a "bouy belt" around their waists to help with floating (definitely not a life saving device) but Seth is excited that he doesn't have to wear one.

This week at lessons, Grace's class moved down the pool some and this was great for her, because she couldn't really see Seth and I watching her and she did an excellent job listening to her teacher. Seth had a new teacher that day and she had him put on a bouy belt, but he tried to tell her he didn't need it, so I went over and explained to her that last week he didn't wear one either and that he can do all the things that is asked of him. She told me that because she wasn't here last week she wanted him to wear one just until she was comfortable with him in the water. We agreed for him to wear the one with only one bouy. (there are three belts, Grace wears the one with two bouys) After about 10 minutes she told him he could take it off!!!

Another mom at class asked if my kids were afraid of the water, and I said no. After watching my no fear children she believed me with no doubt. It makes me feel good that both of my kids are comfortable in the water. She said that she signed up her boy because she wants him to be comfortable too because she is afraid of the water. She also told me that she signed herself up for the adult swim class. I respectfully explained to her that both my kids have been around water since they were about 6 months old and it is very important to me that both of them learn the safety of the water. I told her that I used to teach lessons, even the adult classes and she looked at me puzzled and asked why I am not teaching them and paying for it. I told her that I tried but teaching my kids how to swim was like Richie trying to teach the kids how to play the piano. hahaha It is different when someone else is doing the teaching. She understood and I asked her how her class went last week and she said that she was scared but is going back. It just goes to show that no matter how old you are you can learn how to swim!!!!

I was reading over some of the entries on the blog and noticed that a lot of them are about Grace because she is the one at home with me while Seth is in school, so I wanted to share this little story with you!!!

A couple of weeks ago Mom came to me and said that Mrs. Quayle had a really funny story about Seth. I took Seth into school one morning and asked her what the funny story was and this is the outcome:

Mrs. Quayle: "Class, I want you to think of a word that rhymes with "ut"."
Each student came up with a word, whether it was a real word or not didn't matter. Once it was Seth's turn, she noticed his eyes were wondering as if to be looking at the wall to find a letter to put in front of "ut". Now just a side note, the class has not started really working on blends (ie. br, cr, pl)

Seth: "Slut."
Mrs. Quayle: "Yes, Seth, that does rhyme with "ut"."
She kept her cool and moved right on to the next student and made sure to tell me what he had said. She told me the funny part was that she couldn't figure out were he would have gotten it from, until she realized the wondering eyes on the wall. He saw the blend on the wall and thought he just made up a word) LOL

I was rolling, she told me that last year, she had a class full of 5 year old going on 40 that would have known what the word was, but this year she has 5 year olds and it was hilarious to see one think they were just making up a word, not realizing what they had just said.
