Here they are in front of their campsite. They got ahold of some camo netting and covered the tents and they all wore flight suits. (Gotta love a guy in a flight suit!!!LOL)
Here is Richie talking to a team member who is also a cancer survivor. All of the survivors at the event wore a blue shirt that read "Living Proof" on the back.
Richie was, as he says, "voluntold" to sing the National Anthem at the event. He did a GREAT job.
This is the HOPE sign that is lit up with luminarias during the luminaria ceremony. During the ceremony they read off all the names of people that have lost their fight with cancer, still fighting, or have successfully beat the disease. This sign is reflected in the lake at the park. It is a truely remarkable sight.
Team Top Gun had a fundraiser called "Notes to Heaven". People could purchase a personalized note that would be attached to a balloon and sent up to Heaven. They released all the balloons during the closing ceremony at 6am. Despite the fog, it truely was a wonderful sight.
Needless to say Richie and I will stay with this event (whether it is committee work or team work) for as long as they will have us involved. We have met some amazing people and we can't wait for next year.
